Reading Notes: Ramayana PD part ii
- Bharata heard the news and was upset and mad at Manthara and vowed to never sit on the throne tat belonged to Rama
- Bharata tried to take Rama's place in the jungle for he 14 years but Rama would not let him
- He gave Bharata a pair of sandals in his place
- Shurpanakha falls in love with Rama
- She changed shape to trick him into leaving Sita
- Rama declines and in some stories tries to get her to fall for his bother
- Shurpanakha became angry and lunged at Sita, but Lakshmana and Rama were faster
- Lakshmana cut off her ears and nose
- Shurpanakha ran away crying and told her brother Khara all that had happened
- This caused a fight between Rama and Lakshmana and Khara
- Ravana and Maricha team up to kidnap Sita
- Maricha disguises himself as a golden deer to lure Rama away from Sita
- Rama kills Maricha but before that Maricha mimicks Rama's voice to trick Lakshmana to coming to help Rama
- Sita is scared and after some pressure convinces Laksmana to leave her so he can help Rama (eye roll) its all a trick
- Ravana tries to persuade Sita to join him (gives of Hades and Megera vibes)
- She declines all of his advances and he KIDNAPS her
- Ravana took her to his palace and everyday tried to woe her ( he was not able to do that by force as he would lose a head if he tried)
